Welcome to the New CSP

george-heartwellWelcome to the new and vastly improved website of the Grand Rapids Community Sustainability Partnership (CSP).  I join our 270 members in thanking you for taking the time to peruse this site…and to come back again and again.

When I was Mayor of Grand Rapids five founders joined common cause in 2005 to create a learning community that would do sustainability planning together, drawing on a single planning framework, support one another through implementation of individual plans and then hold each other accountable for measuring and reporting progress on our plans.  The founders were the City of Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Public Schools, Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids Community College and Aquinas College.

When we opened up the membership in the CSP we were astounded at the interest and excitement.  Today our 270 members come from business, education, government and non-profits.  We are as diverse as we can be…but we are all committed to sustainability in Grand Rapids and West Michigan.

Here’s what you can expect from the Grand Rapids CSP:

  • A community of dedicated professionals seeking to learn and employ best sustainability practices in our workplaces;
  • Access to experts who can help guide you through some of the land mines as you implement sustainability in your organization;
  • Latest thinking on subjects like circular economy, renewable energy and education for sustainable development;
  • Resources such as conferences, calendars and blog spots to hone your work around sustainability.

So, join us.  Become part of this movement.  There are no dues, no assessments.  The truth is, we’re looking for something more from you than your money.  We want your commitment to being part of this learning community of passionate sustainability advocates.  We want you to help us live up to the award Grand Rapids received from the US Chamber of Commerce in 2010: The Most Sustainable Mid-Sized City in America.  We want your ideas, your passion, your dedication to sustainability.

So please considering Joining Now… and let’s change the world!

Toward a sustainable future,

George

    Howdy! I could have sworn I’ve been to this site before but after checking through some of the post I realized it’s new to me.

    Anyhow, I’m definitely happy I found it and I’ll be book-marking and checking
    back often!
